We have prepared some top tips below to ensure your interview runs smoothly and you wow your employer/consultant.
Find out the name of your interviewer
Try to find out who is interviewing you and what they do. There might be lots of different interviewers on the day so best to find out before and avoid any possible confusion on arrival.
Read through the job description for the role you are applying to
Get a good grip of what the job requires and think about how your past work experience matches that role. You should be prepared during the interview to answer questions on any aspect of the role and how you can perform that task.
Bring any necessary paperwork to the interview
Print out a copy of your CV and reference details to bring along with you on the day of the interview and be prepared to answer any questions on anything that appears on it, including any gaps or irregularities in your resume. Remember be honest with your answers.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions
Remember the interview is also an opportunity for you to find out more about the role and the place you’ll be working. Come prepared with any questions you might have and ask at an appropriate time. Avoid discussions of salary or work benefits at the first interview stage.
Dress appropriately and arrive on time
You only get once chance to make a first impression so be on time and dress appropriately. If you are unsure on what to wear, business or formal attire will always be better than dressing casually.
